Lovers Rock will be an immersive exploration of intimacy, resistance and sonic pleasure.

Drawing on the rich lineage of Black British music – from blues parties to sound systems to the tender slowness of Lovers Rock itself – the work will interrogate the dance-floor as a site of radical possibility.

Here, the moment before contact will become a meditation on desire, belonging and freedom. Centring diverse bodies, identities and ways of moving often rendered invisible or invalid. Lovers Rock will challenge traditional hierarchies of dance and create a space where movement becomes ritual, reclamation and radical visibility.

Who gets to be desired? Whose bodies are allowed to take up space? What happens when we dance our way toward a different world?
