THE WAY I WEAR MY HAIR

THE WAY I WEAR MY HAIR

I am a woman. I am black. I am a Stroooooooooong Black Woman… erm, am I?

Ray Young invites you to become fellow researchers in their quest to find alternative female identities. Weaving a tale of their hair—natural to synthetic, straight to kinky and everywhere in between—Ray investigates their own hair identity and questions the labels we give ourselves.

The Way I Wear My Hair was originally created for Serendipity Leicester as part of Black History Season LIVE at Curve. It later toured to The Yard Theatre’s N.O.W 14 festival in London, Nottingham Playhouse, Curve, Shift Festival at Contact Manchester and Derby Theatre.
