CALLOUT FOR DANCERS
We are seeking two Black queer, trans+ or gender non-conforming dance performers of Caribbean heritage for a restaging of Ray Young’s award-winning work OUT for a UK tour in spring 2024. OUT is a duet, a love letter, an act of defiance that uses social dance and Black Caribbean culture to challenge homophobia and transphobia.
We are looking for:
- Queer, trans+ or gender non-conforming Black performers of Caribbean heritage
- We are aware of the different dance scenes and backgrounds people develop their skills within.
- We welcome performers whose experience and ability has been developed through non-traditional training, as much as those who are professionally trained dancers
- Being from a Dancehall and/or Vogue Femme, runway, waacking etc is a plus, and strong improvisation skills and performance experience are essential
Notes for applicants:
OUT contains partial nudity — please contact us if you’d like more information about this
